  • capturing media with Sony HVR V1U- Deck or camera?

I am about to upgrade to the HD world and purchase the sony HVR V1U camera, and have been doing research on how this camera works in FCP. My main question is, are there capturing decks that support both HD and SD media recorded on mini DV tapes? Can anyone reccomend a deck that would be able to upload the new HD footage that I will shoot with the sony HVR V1U as well as work with my SD footage that I have collected over the years?

For my last big project, I shot all the media on a sony 950 and a sony vx2000, and captured the media with a 1 chip sony trv 38, as I was told that you shouldn’t use your good cameras like a VCR to log and capture, as they will wear out faster (obv..) So, along with this upgrade of camera, I want to purchase a deck, but don’t have a clue as to what would be a good choice. (An affordable choice! say under 2 grand?? Am I kidding myself?)

What do you guys use to capture your media?

    Gracias,
    Jesus

These are your decks, I’d recomend keeping with sony as there have been some incompatibility issues amongst canon, jvc and sony HDV equipment.

    HVR-M15U.

    Sony HVR-M25U.
