Curious if anyone has encountered this, and my apologies if this subject has been addressed ad nauseum.

When working with HDV footage and attempting to render the timeline (or individual clips, for that matter) it completes 35% and then just stops rendering with the remaining time continuing to increase or it crashes FCP completely.

    Any thoughts?

    Dual 2.7 GHz G5, 2GB RAM, FCP 5.1.2

    TIA,
    James

Try trashing your FCP preference files.
    Download Final Cut Rescue.

does this happen every time on each and every clip regardless of clip length, or is this specific to a particular clip?

Hey, Andy. Thanks for the response. It happens regardless of the clip, multiple clips or entire sequences. At 35%, it either crashes FCP or it just stalls and the remaining time just increases until I cancel.

Odd thing is, however, that if I let the auto-render do its thing, it renders fine.

    WTF? Buggy?
