  THE DREADED PREVIEW DISABLED

  Thanks in advance for responding.
  Working on a G5 running OSX 10.4.8
  FCP 5.1.2
  Quicktime 7.1.3
  Sony DSR-11

  I have done everything that i have come across in these forums and then some, but have yet to find a solution. Trashed preferences, trashed the Receipts for QT and reinstalled latest version of QT, as well as reinstall FCP, restarted, the works. The capture settings are all DV NTSC, and Video and Audio are selected.
  I started out the night briefly being able to see picture, but no audio. Didn’t have time to sort the audio issue out because it quickly came to Preview Disabled. From picture it went to bands of digital noise across the screen, then to a full screen of digital noise, and finally to color bars with the well known message across the middle.
  I am able to control the DSR-11 through the Fire wire port. On the same system however, i am NOT able to see the deck at all in iMovie. When hooking the deck up to another Mac, i am able to control the deck, but not see any picture.
  Is it possible that the problem lies with the deck, even though I am able to control it?
  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

  Look to Apple’s Quicktime support for the latest info on deleting that quicktime files associated with firewire and Quicktime. I’m sorry, I don’t have the link, right now, but I’m sure this is your issue.

  I’ll look into that, but I thought I had already taken care of those issues when I came across that suggestion in previous posts. I’ll try it again.
  One test that i have done though is hooked up a DV Cam to through the same fire wire, and I can see picture with that, leading me to the conclusion that it is the deck. However, I am still curious as to whether it is possible to control the DSR and not see picture.
