    Hi there

I have audio rushes from a split film shoot – pictures to film transferred to videotape for digitising
and audio to dvd and bwf files

i have upgraded to 5.1.2 and imported files but they seem to be lacking info

can someone please tell me what is the process to import the BWF files and then use the timecode info
in the meta data to help me sync to the film clapperboard slate?

    many thanks
    john

They were using a smart slate I’m assuming? Timecode should come right in when you import BWF…

    here’s the apple doc: https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304660

    thanks charlie
    here’s the thing
they used a smart slate and the first three files import with timecode data -spot on
and then the next 34 – nothing?
    weird

looks like i have to engage the timecode track using quicktime for fcp to see it?

Dunno – it’s been so long since we had BWF to deal with… the last feature we hand to sync we had to hand sync. 40 hours of footage later you get really fast at matching the sticks up.

    yeh i know
by the time i tool around with quicktime and all that its just quicker
to find the slap – find the audio waveform clap
and then clap and slap 🙂

funny how the client just thinks it all happens automatically with new file names!

thanks anyway charlie, i appreciate your feedback

Funny thing. At a prep meeting for a TV series and the topic of BWF came up and the sound recordist said to me, “Well don’t you just hit the ‘sync’ command in your edit program and everything syncs up automatically?”
