  Best HD format for computer playback

  I am using Final Cut Pro 5. I do not have flip4mac, if I did, I could create high def. WMV files from my understanding. However, being that I do not have that app. yet, what is the next best file type that I can encode Hight def. video into that will have the most compatible playback using FCP, compressor, or quicktime pro?
