I am looking for information on how I should output my DV video to a final copy for the big screen. Its 66 minutes of Mini DV footage shot on a sony 950 and some super 8mm footage that has been transfered to digital, edited on FCP 5.1.2 on a G5. If anyone could post a link or supply information on how this should be done, that would be greatly appreciated! I am finishing a project and am getting ready to show it at a local theater.

Check with the theater to see how they would like it each place may be different.

You need to talk to your local theater and find out how they will project it. Then you’ll know how to deliver. It could be a film out, it could be as simple as a DVD.

yeah, if they have a video projector, you can probably just hook up a deck of your choosing to it. heck, most of the smaller festivals at sundance project dvds off of a 30 dollar walmart brand dvd projector.

I’ve done this numerous times…i agree, make sure to talk to the theater, check the projector..out put, and then WATCH THE OUTPUT MEDIA, if its a dvd, watch it on the dvd player that you are going to project it with, and if its a tape, watch it before you project on a tv. that way you wont have a surprise.

bring a backup, in fact, bring a VHS backup…it’ll save your arse. I flew with a friend out to tromadance 2004 in park city, and his dvd faltered….and yeah,we had to finish with a vhs tape, but at least we could screen!
