Change Serial Number In FCP?
How do you change the serial number in FCP? I used to know how but I cannot figure it out this time. Thanks for your help.

But when I open it in Textapp it appears as just a whole bunch of text and numbers.

You don’t edit it. Just Trash it.
Next launch of FCP, it will ask you to enter your serial number and register it.

But why would I do that? I NEED the information in this file as I don’t know my serial number and I can’t download upgrades unless I have a serial number. Sorry but I jumped in on someone else’s thread who had a different reason than mine.

I suggest you find your serial number. That’s why you’re given two of them when you buy the program, so you don’t lose them.
I’ve got mine backed up in text also. And no I won’t send it to you.

I don’t want YOUR seial number. I have my own but cant find it! And I KNOW it is in the file; just can’t understand its encryption… AND I get no response from tech support (I think they know I am an Adobe Premiere lover!)

Well…. it seems no one here realises the serial number is displayed on the opening splash screen as well as the ‘about’ dialog. So this is an example of a newbie teaching you veterans something!

I believe that the serial number on the spash screen is incomplete.
