We are transitioning to all final cut where I work. I am the main editor and another editor wants to know if FCP has the ability to show phantom marks as in smoke. I personally don’t like this feature but he is a big fan of it. Does anyone know if this exists in FCP?

Probably not, but never having used smoke I’m curious what a phantom mark is. Something only the Phantom can see?

    All the best,

Avid has these too… say you mark an in and out point in the Canvas, then an in point in the Viewer. The Viewer will display a phantom mark (usually a different color) for the default out point in the Viewer. I like it too. It shows me the calulated 4th point in any 3 point edit.

FCP doesn’t have this, however it does have the ability to gang. So if you place 3 marks, and you use gang, you could see the defaut 4th point by moving one side or the other and moving the clips the same amount of time.
