I have a female voice over, that sounds a bit muffled and thin.I am using FCP 5.1. I have very little experience with equalizing audio and I not sure how to make the VO sharper, brighter and thicker using the AU filters in FCP. Does any know where I can firstly get tutorials on equalizing audio especially VO, and secondly any tips on how to improve the current female VO I have? – (I have already tried using the 3 band equalizer but I keep distorting the high’s and introducing pops in the lows, and I am hopeless with the graphic equalizer)

Export the audio file to Soundtrack and work on it there – there’s every type of filter you could desire including Normalize. You need to play around to get the hang of it (even resort to reading the book!) but once you crack the basics it’s invaluable for fixing problems like EQ and level.
