Hi- Im working on a 30 minute show in DV. Every time I make an edit in the timeline, there is a pause and a box comes up saying “Preparing video for display” It really is quite time consuming after a while. Turned video playback qhality to low. no difference. G5 1.8DP 2G ram and some other programs running like Word and Safari. Is there a way to speed this up?

It’s RAM that’s filled up sounds like to me… so close everything but FCP… or buy more RAM, or cut your sequence down and only work on, say, half at a time, until marriage at the end.

Biggest RAM hog is a complicated number of edits open in sequences at the same time….

where did the media come from? Is there something in the timeline not standard NTSC size?

Media is either DVCPro 25 or BetaSP… I guess a few Mini DV cmaera masters as well. All digitized component to DV. Lots of titles though throughout. I usually dont have so many titles in a show and thqt seems to be the biggest difference from my normal work.
