Open just one sequence
Posted by John on December 14, 2006 at 7:52 pmI have done a search on this problem but didn’t see an answer. I have a sequence that wants to open all the sequences that were open last time this sequence was opened. Now I want to just open just this one sequence and not have all the other sequences open at the same time. What’s the trick?

December 14, 2006 at 7:59 pmRight click and close any of the tabs above the timeline that you don’t want to open next time. Now save the project.

December 14, 2006 at 8:01 pmYou mean you want to open a project with just one sequence open?
Open the project, close all of the sequences except the one you want and save all. Better yet, Save As and give the whole thing a new incremental name. Go to prefs for FCP and make sure you are set to open a new, empty project on launch, not the last one that was open.
Quit FCP. Relaunch it and post back.

December 14, 2006 at 8:14 pmI realize I can right click the other sequences to close but I have about 14 other sequences that open at the same time. I was hoping for a right click, option click or something that would just open the one sequence. The only work around I have come up with is to pull the tab for the one sequence I want open to a new place on the screen then close the other group of sequences.

This is what David just told you. Close all the sequences except the one you want open. Save the Project. Now when you quit and re-open the project, only that one sequence will open.

December 14, 2006 at 8:22 pmClose the canvas. All the sequences close. Open the one you want and only that one will open, none of the others. If you close the timeline window, all the sequences open when you open one of them.
All the best,
Tom

December 14, 2006 at 9:44 pmThe trick is to close your timeline window (use the left the three little orbs on the very top left corner of the timeline window). Then open up the one sequence you want to open from the browser. Save. Close the project.
It’s really simple.
