export sequence of frames to photoshop?
Hello, I’m fairly new to the forums and to Final Cut Pro. I am running Final Cut Pro 4.5 on an iMac G4 with a 400 gh processor.
Back when I had a PC and was using After Effects, I remember I was able to export a video clip from After Effects as a sequence of frames into photoshop, edit each frame individually (i.e. vector mask, which I’m hoping to do this time), and then import back into After Effects.
Now that I no longer have After Effects (still have it for PC if anybody wants to purchase!) and can’t quite afford to buy it for my computer, I was wondering if there was any way to do this or something similar using Final Cut (outside of exporting each frame individually and importing the same way, or simply using After Effects on a coworker’s laptop). It’s about a 2 second long clip. I do have photoshop on my computer, so that isn’t an issue.Thanks for any help,
Joel…Or if anybody wants to trade After Effects for Windows for a copy of After Effects for Mac!

You should be able to go to Export>Quicktime Conversion>Image Sequence and export the frames in the format you select in the “options” section. Just select the section or clip you want to export from FCP using In & Out. Export to a new folder otherwise you will end up with MANY still images on your desktop or where ever it is you choose to put them. Bring each image into Photoshop modify them and then save them to a new folder. Don’t change the name. Or at least keep them in the proper numerical sequence when you rename them. Import the new folder back into FCP or into Quicktime Pro and generate a new QT movie from there. Import that movie back into FCP.

Mark and in and out on the FCP timeline. Choose Export — Using QT Conversion — Image Sequence.
