[jrhfilms] “I have tried a few settings but the picture size is smaller. What am I doing wrong?”

Nothing. DV is less than half the height of 1080i HD, it’s supposed to be smaller. If you want it to be the same size you need to scale it up. You can scale it using the motion tab in the viewer, or you can run it through Compressor, which will do a not too bad job of scaling up & retiming your footage.

Or you can capture your footage through a Kona 2 or 3 card via SDI card to scale it up in realtime.

Which format of HD? I am working on a DVcPRO HD project (720p) where we incorporate a LOT of DV, VHS and betaSP into the project. The DV was all bumped up using the AJ-HD1200 deck which has upconvert options…including a center extraction so that it chops of the top and bottom and leaves you with a 16:9 blown up image.

Or, as Arnie mentioned, Compressor does a great job. I have had great success with upconverting DV to DVCPRO HD.

And then there is the Kona…Terranex…
