Question for Shane
Posted by Chris Poisson on December 8, 2006 at 5:31 pmHey,
Excellent tutorial on upconverting DV to HD with Compressor below, just have a quick question, what would I do different going from some anamorphic footage or sequence?
TIA…

December 8, 2006 at 7:37 pmHow would you convert, say anamorphic DV to HD? Well, I would think (since I haven’t done it) that you’d do everything BUT crop the image. Since it is already anamorphic, just use all those settings, but don’t crop the top and bottom. Try that and see what happens.
And please report your findings.

Pretty much the same thing. We had an entire episode shot DV anamorphic. Just capture it DV Anamorphic, place it into a DV Anamorphic timeline and then up-rez either using FCP or via Compressor. We up converted to 720p just within FCP and it worked out beautifully.
