Capture Video does not sync with Audio. About 5 frames behind. Please help.
We just got our Final Cut system back and set it up. Everything looks wonderful and seems to work right however when I capture video my audio is about 5 frames behind. I can manually adjust the audio for a quick fix for now but obviously I do not want to continue to have to do this. On top of this problem when I try to put the project to my DVCPro Tape the video shows up but the audio is not present at all.
My engineers claim that it’s all software related but I know them too well. I think the sync problem is probably software related but when I try to put it on tape and there is no audio I think that has to do with they way they set the system up.
Can someone help me or point me in the right direction? My engineers refuse to help me until I have proof it’s hardware. Any input will help.

How are you monitoring this stuff, both audio and video? When you turn on the timecode overlay, does it report the audio and video to be in sync?

Connect speakers to the Deck NOT the Mac. Or change your playback offset in Prefs. Assuming you have a pro set up and for that it’s better to monitor from the deck as it will always be in synch with your external video monitor.

System Prefs > Playback Offset is your issue. Default is four frames. If you’re using a capture card like the AJA Kona, it should be 0.
