  Monitor help please

  What do you suggest I use as a monitor for the folowing useage…

  All of our projects are exclusively for film out and we work mostly with 10-bit cineon files. I’d like to use AE for our entire pipeline from dust busting the original scans, compositing, to color correcting and final render for film out. Our files are usually a minimum of 4096×3002, and can be as large as 8424×6144. At these sizes I need to work in 16-bit rather than the recommended 32-bit mode in AE, but thus far it’s not been an issue. If anyone can figure out a way to work at these resolutions in 32-bit float mode, by all means, let me know!

  My issue is that our monitor has a maximum resolution of 1900×1200, and is sorely lacking in brightness, contrast, and color saturation. (older SGI CRT widescreen) Trying to match our filmouts is impossible.

  In addition to color correction, I’ll be using the monitor in degraining film footage. So I need both excellent color reproduction and very high resolution for viewing the subtle changes in film grain.

  I was surprised at how little info I could find online regarding this. So far it looks like the 30″ Apple Cinema monitor would be best, but I honestly have no idea.

  Any suggestions?
