Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Aiff to AC-3

I have several spots which were compressed with a Sonic hardware compressor which produced audio files which are AC-3 and a couple of other spots I cut on FCP and compressed on my computer with Compressor resulting in Aiff audio files. These two formats cannot be used on the same DVD track in DVDSP. Is there any way to change the Aiff to AC-3 or any way to get AC-3 out of Compressor. If I use Compressor to make only the audio files Aiff from the masters of the spots that now are AC-3 will they work and be in sync etc.

Thanks in advance for any help

Just drop your aiff in compresor and applay the Dolby 2.0 that is AC3 format and you got it.

I have tried that and the resulting Dolby AC-3 is not compatible with the Sonic encoded AC-3.
    Ant other thoughts.
    Thanks for the interest

That’s pretty strange, since both encoders are licensed by Dolby labs and they are very tight on their specs. Are you sure they have the same number of channels?
