I would like to make the switch from AVID to Final Cut Pro but it’s necessary that I’m able to advance through video at the field level and not just the frame level. With out this option, I absolutely cannot put Final Cut into my workflow. Does Final Cut Pro have this option? If so, what’s been the experience of FCP users with this tool?

    Thanks,
    Tres

As long as I know FC do not have that option. You can do it in Shake and probably in Motion, but not in FC.

an easy method of advancing field by field …. can’t do it in FCP. ( digital heaven’s excellent dh_dropout plugin allows you to see each field of a specific frame but I realise thata would be a klutzy workaround for what you want not a solution )

My current work around is to capture frames and then export and deinterlace in Photoshop. If Shake allows for field advancement would this equate to a similar workflow? I apologize I know very littel about Shake. Thanks,
    Tres
