calibrating external monitor
I need to calibrate my external monitor. Does anybody know of a good resource so I can do it properly?

My monitor doesn’t have the blue function, it was given to me. Is there still a way to calibrate it or do I need to try and get another one?

Hmmm,
You may have a blue-only setting in your menus, that’s the way one of mine has it, whereas my other monitor has a blue switch on the front. But, if you don’t have it, you can put a dark blue gel over the monitor with the test patern and get those 4 small bars pretty close. I don’t remember the filter number, just get a dark blue, you can even double it up. Sold in sheets at camera stores.

Kodak 47b or Rosco #74 or #385 filters or their equivelents will do it. You only need a small piece to put infront of your eyes. I’ve used the free sample kits (about 1″X2″) from rosco or lee for this.
