Would an ATI Radeon PCI-E card speed up the redraw
of waveforms on a fcp timeline?

I turned it off because its damned annoying how it slows down the gui each time it redraws them, but I like seeing the audio.

Also, has anyone experienced the little slider at the bottom of the timeline freezing? You go and click on the right place to slide and it just freezes for awhile? A friend of mine saw it happen in front of me and said he has that happen as well.

Would a higher end card fix this issue?

I have the stock pci-e card that the G5 Quad comes with.

I’m running a G5 Quad, and we mistakenly got the stock video card with this machine, I think it was a GeForce 6600. Once I installed the GeForce 7800GT, things ran much more smoothly for me.

That’s all we’re running here, the stock G5 Quad graphics card and we can even run Final Touch HD with it, which is wholly dependent on the graphics card.

Forgot to mention I’m also using a 30″ Cinema Display.

I noticed that I did not have to render as often after the 7800GT was installed.

Is there any way to speed up the waveform drawing?

I’m surprised how slow it is sometimes.

I don’t want to make any promises, but I remember perceiving waveforms drawn faster between the two cards. Though with my (lack of) memory it could have been a difference in projects.
