    hello everyone,
i’m working on a project cutting on fcp 5.0.4 and would love to be able to bring work home on my brand spanking new intel macbook pro. however, according to apple, i can’t run 5.0.4, only 5.1. it’s doubtful that the producers would want to upgrade. what are my options? i read about a hack for making 4.5 work on the macbook (by telling it to look for a different graphics card)but am curious to know whether something like that exists for the 5.0.4/5.1 problem. (something tells me this is wishful thinking – silly apple!).

i keep reading about people who are able to make 5.0.4 run, albeit slowly, but i’m not sure if they’re referring to the most recent mac book pros or the ones that came out last winter. anyone with any experience with this?
    best,
    grace

It’s $49 for the crossgrade if you own FCP Studio. $99 if you don’t. But that offer is going to run out shortly.

Not sure what would prevent you from upgrading. Will certainly be a LOT easier if you do this than try to use any sort of workaround.

    #29: Need AGP Graphics card

    Shane’s Stock Answer #29

    You either need to either:

    1) use the following hack –

    or

    2) Upgrade to FCP 5.1

I’m in shock. I brought a project from the office (from an intel based mac) with me for the weekend to finish (on my power-pc based mac), and I can’t open it because i don’t have 5.1 and can’t update to it, even though i have a registered copy of FCP studio 5. i thought the $50 upgrade was for people who got the intel-based macs. is it true i can’t open any universal projects without getting the $50 upgrade? ouch! it’d be worth it but i won’t need to do this again.
