    Hello,

Does anyone know how to view synced footage from multiple camera angles simultaneously with FCP. For instance, if I taped a live music concert with 4 cameras and I wanted to view each angle at the same time as I edited, after I layed the different footage down on 4 Video tracks in my timeline and synced everything up (via a sync event, etc.) i.e video and sound

Thanks. I appreciate any insight and info you are able to share

    Jason

FCP 5 comes with an excellent tutorial on this. I find this to be a much better way to learn than with lengthy explanations.

Yeah, you don’t put cameras on 4 different tracks anymore.
    That’s SOO version 4.5 🙂

FCP 5 and above does it like AVID, only a bit easier I think.
    Give it a try.

    Good Luck,

……unless you want to have the audio tracks from all your camera angles audible at the same time.

    Call me Curious…
what situation would you want four audio sources on a multicam shoot,
running at the same time? If you want to hear each camera, you can
select it in the viewer multiclip. Otherwise, in general, you pick your
audio and edit video to it. And you can always target more audio tracks
from your multiclip if you want. The point is, with FCP 5 and above
you have real mulitcam software in FCP. Stacking and syncing video tracks
is now something you only need to do for effects creation.
    No ?

Correct. Sort of. In our business we do training seminars, etc. and I need multiple wireless audio tracks to be in the timeline for the final mix, including ambient sound from the on-camera mics for boosting purposes during Q & A sessions. So…..with that in mind I bring the footage from all the cameras (3) into the timlline on tracks V1 V2 V3, sync them, make a muliticlip, put that on V4 then mute the multiclip audio. I’m left with all my audio and one muliticlip which I edit in RT. Works for me.

    Interesting.
So, you are using the multicam software as intended by making
multiclips, but then adding your specific audio needs. Very clever.
