    Heres the deal.

I have my capture deck plugged into my external HD which is plugged into my laptop with capture scratch settings directed to the External HD.

Im getting really choppy captures? In the past Ive ran this setup when I didnt have enough free space on the internal and It was fine?

I thought i might be a playback issue from the External, so i transfered a captured clip over the the internal HD and it was still choppy. Now when i capture directly to the Internal HD the video playback is fine.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or is my best bet just capturing to the internal and transfer the clips over to the external everytime i run outta space on the internal?

    thanks in advance

    A guess.

You are using a USB instead of firewire or firewire 800.

    Also,

If it is firewire, then switch the input output /device order to the drive. IE. Change your camera/firewire signal path.
