  • Exporting Compressed Quicktime Movies from Final Cut Pro

    Hi,

I’m new to this board, and I apologize if I already posted this same message — I was not registered before. I have created a few movies in Final Cut Pro, exported as Quicktime Movies, using the Export as Quicktime feature, but have not adjusted anything. The results are HUGE file sizes (around 700mb, which I can’t do anything with except leave on dvd). I’m wanting files I can either email or put on something like YouTube. Does anyone know what I would need to do for that? I would like a smaller size, without losing too much quality. Can I do this within FCP, or do I need 3rd party software? Also, can anything be done with the .mov files, or do I need to work directly from my fcp files?

    Thanks,
    Miranda

From FCP goto your “File” menu (top right of screen) and select Export>Using QuickTime Compression. From there you will have many options as to how to encode. I personally like to use Sorenson 3.
