    Hello all,
I would like to now if it is possible to use my laptop Sony Vaio (Pentium III 1.13 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 30 GB HardDrive, PC Card Slot, iLink) to transfer DVCPro-HD material from a P2 Card and save the files directly to an external hard drive. Then I would connect the external hard drive to my Power Mac G5 for download and edit on FCP 5.1.

Any comments and ideas will be greatly appreciated. At this point, I would like to use the PC Card Reader on my Vaio until I am ready to invest in a more efficient equipment.

    Thanks a lot.

As long as it has a PCMCIA slot, and you install the drivers for the P2 card, sure, it’ll work fine.

We used a Dell on our first round of shooting.

Shane, thank you for your input. I’ll go ahead and test my workflow. Just want to make sure my G5 reads the video files written by the Sony Vaio laptop on an external hard drive.

    Best regards,

    Pablo
