  • Boris Continuum 4 – anyone get them to work on Mac Pro?

Posted by Walter Biscardi on November 21, 2006 at 7:41 pm

We downloaded Boris Continuum Complete 4 a few weeks ago and can’t get FCP to work reliably with the Mac Pro.

First install – All rendering in FCP stopped. Couldn’t even render an FCP native filter.

Second install – FCP crashes everytime we access Title3D (also a Boris product)

To fix both of these problems we simply removed the BCC 4 plugs from the FCP Plug Ins folder.

Just curious if anyone else out there has gotten this to work. We did purchase the upgrade so this is not the trial version of the plugs. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this Walter, I’ve heard nothing back from Boris on this problem. I rely on Red and BCC so much that my Mac Pro is still sitting on the floor doing nothing but gathering dust until they get the fix right for both products.

Boris keeps telling me it’s working fine on their end, their only suggestions are to re-install. that didn’t work.

If I get the time I’ll install BCC 4 on my Mac Pro and run it. I did notice problems is Title3D, seems like it kind of works, but puts heavy areas of circles in the drop shadows.

Don’t know if it’s related, but ever since I upgraded FCP Studio (5.1.2) BorisFX makes FCP crash every time I try to add a transition… I’m working under a deadline now so haven’t had time to persue the issue yet.
    Hope you problem gets solved.

I installed BCC4 on my new Mac Pro yesterday. So far it’s working fine. I can apply and adjust filters and even render. No problems at all. I haven’t checked Title3D yet, though.
You installed with the CD and then ran the Intel upgrade from the Boris site?

I have just upgraded from an old dual 1.25 ghz G4 to a MacBook Pro, and using FCP 5.1.4.
I don’t use BCC; but it seems there’s a similar problem with Title3D. They have some sort of a fix on their wesbsite; but only pertaining to use with BCC.
