    Hello,

We are trying to put 4 little videos playing in one for a short clip in our sequence. Shall we crop each one to 1/4th of the size of a frame and move them around so that they are displaying together, or is there a better feature to accomplish this faster?

    That’s how you do it.

    Iticia,

I believe the size is half, not quarter, that is if you want it to fill the screen. But yes, that’s how it’s done. The clips all get stacked on top of each other.

Usually, video clips handeled in this way have some slop on the edges, so it’s usually necessary to crop the edges a little or put them under a grid mask of some kind. The former means you need to size them to taste, not by the numbers.

There is a plugin by CHV that aligns clips in a cube, I suppose you could use that and orient it at the screen without seeing it’s 3Dness, but that’s the only plug I know of that comes close to what you want.

If there are crummy edges on the footage why in heck would you not crop it?

It’s totally cool to crop, size, reposition or all three.

[Kevin Monahan] “It’s totally cool to crop, size, reposition or all three.”

Absolutely! Make it work as a whole, not in little pieces.

BTW, here’s a plugin for $20 that will be a big help: https://www.digital-heaven.co.uk/fcplugins/dh_box.php
