  • “General Error” when opening a Project

I just recently transferred my final cut projects from an iMac to a MacPro tower and now some of the projects are not opening up in final cut and I receive a message that says “General Error”. I tried re-copying the files, that didn’t work. I tried hooking up the iMac to the MacPro and just copying the files to the tower and it worked…but when I ejected the drive(the iMac computer) and tried opening up the project I had copied again, it came up with the error again.

Is there some kind of reference that the project files are using off the old computer? Has anyone had this problem? Thank you for your help.

    try trashing your prefs:

    long shot:
try to compres your project file with stuffit before transfering it

Or you can export your project as XML and import the xml into a new project….
