  Importing rough cut directly from negative

  Hello

  Has anyone ever importing into FCP directly from the Negatives?

  Is it a nasty process?

  I don’t believe that you can do this. You need a film scanner to scan the negatives (like a Spirit or older Rank Cintel) and they do not interface with FCP. There are Digitial Intermediate (DI) solutions out there that do connect and do capture the film as a DI file. Then it can export that as DVCPRO HD files that FCP can work with.

  Then when you are done in FCP you export your EDL and online the DI on another machine.
