    Hello,
I am having problems exporting a still frame from HDV footage in FCP 5.1.1. It is captured at 1920×1080, but when trying to export, it compresses to 1440×1080. Why does it do this? Is there a way to export and keep it’s native aspect ratio?
Also, when we capture from the Sony HDV deck, the raw quicktime file is stretched horizontally, but when we import the file into FCP, it appears normal.

Why does Final Cut act weird when dealing with HDV?

It isn’t captured 1920×1080. The footage is ANAMORPHIC…so 1440×1080…it is squished. When you edit it in FCP, FCP unsquishes it for you. So 1440×1080 is the native aspect ratio.

FCP acts normal when dealing with anamorphic footage. DVCPRO HD is anamorphic as well.
