FCP crashes on P2 Import
Hey guys,
Just wondering if you’d encountered this. Happened to me on 2 different clients’ machines, both G5s with Kona cards (a “2” and a “3”, respectively, with latest drivers) and FCP 5.1.2 . Try to import P2 footage from a folder, and as soon as I try to mount it in the import dialog box, FCP crashes. Every single time. Kind of freaky, since the footage works fine in the cam, or in P2 Log, or on other FCP stations.
Is it the Kona?

I doubt it that it’s the Kona causing it to crash. The kona has nothing to do with P2 import. First I’d trash your preferences are retry.
Where are your MXF files and what are the folders named that store them?

Yeah, because I have the Kona LH and I can import fine.

Hey Jeremy,
I’ve done the usual, trash the prefs, repair permissions and all. I’ve tried various folders with various names, all of which work on other Macs with 5.1.2. It’s just these 2 machines. Weird, huh? The only common denominator is the Kona card, that’s why I was wondering. Could the KONA Varicam codec conflict with the DVCPRO HD? Just wondering out loud…

Ok Shane, so it might not be the Kona after all. I’m going to suggest we reinstall everything from scratch. Darn.
