tiny line from super
I’m working my way through Diana Weynand’s fine book, “FCP5.” Using a layered PSD graphic from the book’s DVD, I noticed something strange: When I turn off all but one of the layers, there is a fine vertical line immediately to the right of the graphic. If I make any other layer visible the line disappears (even though the layer I made visible doesn’t cover up the area where I saw the line).
What’s going on, and how might I avoid this when I start working in layers?

Sounds like that particilar layer has a tiny line in it, whereas the other layers cover it up. It happens… just go into Photoshop and solo that layer, add another layer and make it black or white (depends on the majority of your main graphic) , then remove the tiny line to the right with the eraser.

Thanks. Yes, and no. I checked that, selected empty space/enlarged selection/deleted=no change — there’s some kind of virtual bounding box around this graphic that only shows up in FCP. If anyone else has the Weynand book you might want to check it out. Very strange. Not a big deal, just one of those mysteries.

I had this happen recently too and what worked for me was to render the timeline or the PSD and it disappeared. I don’t know why, I don’t like it but it worked.

Doctor, I feel much better. That worked! (rendering the timeline with the psd itself didn’t work, btw — but rendering the timeline in which the graphic appeared as a Layer 2 did work.)
Thanks very much. I have a supervised edit coming up with tons of supers, and I was a little worried about how I was going to deal with that if it came up.
