November 5, 2006 at 4:43 pmI wanted to also add, I have recently tried trashing prefs according to the article below
https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93234
Ive also, tried reinstalling the enitre FCP studio.
No dice on any of these.
Im running compressor 2, FCP 5.0 and DVD studio 4, if that helps.
desperatly waiting for a solution

November 5, 2006 at 6:54 pmFCP isnt the problem, it opens and runs fine. Its compressor that wont open. Originally it would quit on launch, but now it wont open period, double click the icon and nothing happens. checked for new software updates as well, didn’t come back with anything, other than a soundtrack pro update. I also tried opening compressor from FCP, but now its greyed out?
Basically I need to MPEG2 a movie with chapter markers embedded in it. I cant do this from final cut or QT. I can from DSP, but my markers are’nt going to be exact, so i really need to use compressor, unless anyone knows of another app that will let you set CM’s that DSP will recognize.

November 5, 2006 at 9:27 pmDid you make any changes to your OS lately? I had the same problem after an archive and reinstall, tech supports said the pro apps don’t like this. Trash all your compressor receipts, delete the program, reinstall, run software updates for compressor. Receipts are .pkg files in the hard drive library receipts folder.

November 6, 2006 at 4:20 pmI was having this same problem, and came upon this article on Apple’s website. https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303967 I do have Shake, so I think this is my problem.
Good luck,

November 6, 2006 at 7:16 pmThis happened for me – I was using the wrong Alias to launch after upgrading. Spotlight “compressor” and see if you ahve two applications popup. One of them is the upgraded one you’re supposed to use, and the other is not.
This assumes you’re using a link, and not exporting from FCP via compressor. If FCP won’t open compressor, I don’t know what to tell ya.
Good luck,
Neo
