Wondering if anyone can point me in any direction at all. Out of the blue FCP is now taking a loooooong time to launch. It behaves fine once it’s up, but getting it up is a laborious process. I haven’t installed or updated anything recently, so I don’t know why the sudden change.

I’ve trashed prefs, repaired permissions, run yasu, restarted the system (obviously), no luck. Somebody here on the COW suggested I zap my pram, which I did – no change. Is there something I’m missing? I hate to do a reinstall for this – maybe I should just get used to going to get a cup of coffee every time I launch FCP?

Are you communicating with a network? This could prove slow if there is a communication jam. We had a similar thing whereby the G5 in the morning would take an age to boot up.

Yes, I do have a network connection, but I’ve always had a network connection, and I don’t think that FCP should be dealing with the network when it’s launching – I believe it’s independent. Thanks for the thought though.

Unfortunately it’s not project-file related, it takes forever when it’s launching “clean” – with no project file to open. Good thought though.

Well, gentlemen, looks like I’ll just brush up on my chess skills or something…
