  repeating same set of effects, way to package them for re-use in my Composition?

  I am noob so sorry if this is a silly question. I’m creating a pop-up video effect for a slideshow, it took a while of tweaking to get the look and timing just right, now I have to do the same set of effects, sounds, etc all with same time between events about 50-75 more times only changing the source graphics file…is there an easy way to save the set of effects, sounds, timing etc to be reapplied to each new graphic I insert?

  yes. Here’s how:

  – In the timline, Select the footage you want to replace.

  – In the Project panel, begin to drag the footage you want to use as the replacement towards the timeline, while holding down Alt (Option on a mac)

  – Let go of the footage (still holding alt).

  this replacec the footage.

  Lather, rinse, repeat.

  thanks Aharon for your response. I don’t quite follow the whole thing though. What I meant is that I have a small group of objects in my composition…one sound file (no effects), one small graphics file (with several effects attached to it) consisting of about a 4 second sequence and about 4 keyframes per effect which I tweaked carefully to get timing right.

  I think I understand what you are telling me which is to replace the graphic file with a new one then do the above? but actually in addition what I need to do is repeat or copy and paste this “group” of 1 sound, 1 graphic plus effects/timing/keyframes over and over on my footage THEN replace only the graphic file each time. That method of FIRST replicating this set of objects together one after another in the timeline while preserving the timing/keyframes is the part I’m missing…without having to manually recreate each time the effects and keyframes consecutively each time in the timeline.

  Or is there a way to “copy and paste” to replicate a set of objects by selecting only a in/out marked section of the timeline and then within that selected time only specific objects (beacuse there are other objects I would not want to copy which overlap in the timeline…like the background footage.

  Thanks Aharon and Dave…worked perfectly as you described. Only catch in case somebody else is trying to do something similar was that because these were using PNG graphics files with transparent backgrounds I did not render…just created the Comp’s one by one then imported them back into my other project to avoid problems with Luma Key/black background. Looks great.
