    Hi Good People,

I recently shot on 16mm and am now syncing the audio to video. My short film has 15 scenes so I made 15 sequences, drop individual takes onto the timeslines and then synched the audio.

Now, how do I maintain the relationship with the video for good? For starters, I’ve linked the clips, but they lose the ‘link’ relationship after I set it up.

Is it possible to tell FCP that Video Clip A is always to be linked with Sound Clip X — even if I pull them off the timeline and want to put them back later?

If all this sounds confusing just give me some advice on how you work with film transferred to video and imported seperately from the audio.

Make sure you have “linking” enabled – it’s the first little button at the top right of the timeline window – the one with the chain link icon. If you want to save the linked audio and video in the browser, simply make a subclip.

Synch audio to a different video source by selecting both clips > modify > mark in sync. and also apple L for link. ( >modify > link)
