Can anyone recommend a compression codec for material shot at 30p with a Varicam? We’re using a Panasonic 1200A via firewire or Kona 2, Dual 2.0 Mac on 10.4.6 and FCP 5.1.1. We need to deliver a 59.94 D-5 as well as a Digi-Beta 29.97 drop frame. Whenever I try to capture using compression at 29.97(ie. Photo JPEG, Motion JPEG, etc), I get dropped frames. I can capture with the same compression just fine at 59.94, and I can capture full rez DVCPRO 720p30 just fine (we just have a shortage of storage). My biggest concern is that the timing of the show will be off if I’m not working in a 29.97 drop frame sequence from the start and I certainly don’t want to render from 59.94 to 29.97-drop in FCP. Any thoughts?
    thanks,
    Luke

I seem to recall seeing OFFLINE HD in my easy seups in varying formats. You can try them.

TIming of the show is an issue. You will need to find out what the total time is, put SLUG into a drop frame timeline that goes up to that time, then copy and paste it into a non-drop sequence and note the end time. Cut your show to that time and when you downconvert that to SD, you will be on time.
