Is there a way to keep a certain camera in one mulitclip angle? I have 5 cameras synched by timecode. However, because the cameras cut for short periods, I cannot keep the next shot from the same camera in the same angle. If I switch it, then the original clip is moved to a different angle. I cannot set In/ out points because the clip doesnt exist before the originbal cuts. FCP acts like it is there even before it is active. I would like to be able to cut the show while having all of the different cameras in their specific angles without them switching on me. Can I do this???

I have read and re-read your post five or more times and I have absolutely no idea what you mean.

Mutlicamera works fine for most of us. This is not to suggest you’re an idiot, it just means you are experiencing a problem the rest of us have not had to deal with.

First, when I use mutliclip, each camera is called an angle. I caputre them according to the manual using an angle assignment so they come into the multicamera clip automatically.
Second, you shouldn’t be using switch at all, you should be using the cut commands. Huge difference.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Sounds like you hadn’t organized your captured clips before creating the multicamera clip. You somehow mixed cameras within each angle.

And apparently your cameramen stopped shooting occasionally during the job. You’ll have to resolve this problem before creating the multicam clip.

For future reference, when doing a multicam job, the shooters need to keep the cameras rolling until the event ends or until they run out of tape. And tape changes should be staggered so all the cameras won’t lose coverage simultaneously.

This might not be what you are asking, but to keep each
camera in the same box in the multiclip, you assign a
number or a letter in the “angle” box in the log and capture
window, or you can do it in the browser column after you
log or even after you capture. I use a,b,c,d,e, but you could
    use 1,2,3,4,5. etc.
Now when you make your multiclips, cam 1 will always be
in the left top box, etc.
