  Loads of Timecode breaks

  I have worked in the industry as an editor for the past 7 years. In that time I have struck the next problem twice.

  When digitising my footage I occasionally have to use the clients camera as my deck. In the latest instance I had to use a panasonic 3ccd camera. Anyway, the problem I’m having is there is a never ending stream of timecode breaks, so I end up with an hours worth of 57sec clips. The footage and the camera say the timecode is continuous FCP 5.1 tells me somthing completely different. What is happening? and is there a way I can resolve this without having to do a full dump down with new timecode? (p.s. the only other time I have come across this is when I had to use the clients camera as my deck and they were using a sharp)

  If you are absolutely sure these timecode breaks are phantoms, you can turn off FCP’s behavior of making a new clip.

  Just change it in your preferences to “Warn after capture”

  I’m sure they are. However, FCP stops capture at each point as it is sure there is a timecode break. What to do? I’m stumped.
