i’m trying to use my keyboard shortcuts and it seems my option key isn’t responding. i didn’t realize how much i use it until it wasn’t there. i trashed my preferences and manually reset my keyboard layout. i was wondering if anyone has had the same problem or has any insight on how to fix it.
    thanks,

    Mark,

Is this just in FCP or is it global? Try going into the system preferences and click on Restore Defaults in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialogue. If that works, then try loading your special keyboard setup if you have one and see if the option key still works. If not, then at least you can figure out what to do to fix it.

    david,
thanks for the response. it’s only in fcp. i’m also using soundtrack pro and the option key works fine there. i restored the defaults in the sp keyboard shortcuts and still nothing. if you have any other ideas, that would be great.

    Mark,

Try going into the Tools – Customize Keyboard deal inside FCP and try reseting to default there, and if that doesn’t work try manually reprogramming the Option Key.

Now that you have discovered the option key, get yourself a three button mouse and see much faster you will do things.

Are you swtiching your system keyboard layout while FCP is open? On my system, I loose the command key when I switch it while FCP is open. I think there is a bug there.

In the desk, across the room, to your right, look in the draw on the left, the one with the red letter O on it, 2 draws down, I think its in there.
