Offline editing a 35mm project for HD??
I am in the early early stages of editing an 35mm feature project for a small company. Resources are tight, so I’m cutting with final cut pro. The project has to be onlined in HD. Is it OK to cut with the 35mm windowburn 30fps/ dvcam dailies produced by the telecine, or is it necessary to downconvert the HD masters and edit with those. By cutting wih the 30fps dailies, I can process the video with cinema tools and create 24p video that would match back to film perfectly. Would this same concept apply to the HD tapes also created via telecine from the 35mm film. Will my timecode/edl match? For financial reasons it would be easier to cut with the dailies.
