Decoder Fade In – Numbers Only?
Hey all…
I’d like to use an effect very similar to the text preset “Decoder Fade In,” but using only numbers. It will transition into a word, but I’d like the random characters it uses during the transition to only be 0-9. Any thoughts on how to do this?

Not sure what the preset actually looks like and not in froint of AE at the moment, but you should be able to limit the values used by adding “Character Value” animators. Also check the source text – if it only has numbers, then only those will be used throughout.

Eh. It’s one of the presets that comes packaged with AE. The letters fade up, one at a time, but they cycle through several letters as they fade on, then settle on the letter they’re actually supposed to be. It basically already uses a Character Value animator. You’re correct that if your source text is only made of numbers, that what it’ll use as if fades on… Unfortunately, I need the final outcome to be a word, not numbers. I’m doing an accounting-related TV spot, so I was hoping I could use numbers to transition the words on… I’m guessing there might be some sort of expression that could help limit the characters it uses? Animating the source text doesn’t really seem to do anything – you can’t use anything but held keyframes there, can you?

Mmh, why not simply use more character value/ character offset animators? Define the alphabet ranges and the number ranges and then choose a suitable mode for the animator like “intersect”. This way you can get both. You’d simply have to animate the Start/ End or Offset to define on which characters there is an overlap between values.

Hi to everybody
i’m not really good with expression, and i need an help regarding the same problem.
Need a “decoder fade” in animation on a sentence.
Only numbers during the decoding, and the letters of my words at the end.Does exist a simply expression to do that?
