what if I DID want some destructive editing?
This may be a silly question: When I’m working on documentary projects that use 20 tapes for 15 minutes of footage, I dont’ like logging each clip, I like importing the entire tapes so that I can quickly scan through and find the bits I’m going to use. once the project is done I’d like to be able to dump everything that I’m not using, but I don’t know if there is a technique to doing this. I could export clips that I like individually, but then they have no connection to the orignal tape media. I know this is a backwards way of using FCP but sometimes its just so much faster than having to log stuff which I’ll never use. So I sacrifice space to save some time. Is there any method or feature I’m unaware of that allows me to purge all the unused media and redefine the source media.
thanks very much.
