How do I…?
We have several FCP systems with X-Serve Raids. We are contempleting a new Xeon machine with a 500GB system drive and three additional 500Gb or 750Gb SATA drives, striped together. Our plan for the new box is to take it into the field when we are shooting Hi Def feature films with a Sony F-900 camera (not HDV but real HD). What we want to do is capture live, uncompressed 8 bit HD to our internal raid, cut scenes together on-site and then transfer the footage later to one of our big raids where the movie will be edited. How do we do this and have redundancy in the big raid? We are trying to avoid going to tape because of the compression issue.
Of course, our raid on the tower will not have redundancy because of how it is striped and we have the big raids striped at Raid 50.
