    Hello,
    I have spent a great deal of time working on projects in FCP that end up on the web, and not on a broadcast monitor. My questions concerns interlacing of Rendered material.
    My question, what method do people typically use to avoid interlacing rendered material? The most common answer to this question on this forum is “look at it in a proper output monitor.” A good point, if the project is actually ending on a broadcast monitor.
    In the Quicktime export, there is a setting to “deinterlace source material.” This will deinterlace the source material, but not rendered graphics such as FCP’s title 3d titles.
    I am typically exporting master digital files in the quicktime animation codec.
    To get around this, would you set the sequence setting to progressive prior to export?
    It seems like their must be a way to properly do it with quicktime converion.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Terry,
    If you are working for the web, in the momment that you reduce the size of your film, and you make it smaller than 360×288 (or so, I do not remember exactly) QT de-interlace by it self because QT it doesn’t support interlaced images of such a small size.
    But if tou want to control the quality you better do it your self before. In FC if you want a de-interlaced film, you must imput progresive footage, or you have to de-interlace the one that is interlaced. This in the time-line, with a de-interlacing plugin (but try a good one).
    When you export you can do it as progresive (in the sequence settings) or you can export as interlaced. Whatever system you use you will get the same result, because although the second way will give you an interlaced film, the motion difference between the two fields has been eliminated when you apply the ‘de-interlacing” effect.
