Hey guys, I know this is subjective, but say you were doing editing for big nationally aired ad campaigns, what would be the going freelance editing rate for something like that? I well where I’m at, but I have kinda worked my way up from the bottom here, and I want to know what a competitive rate would be if I freelance at other places now that I have more experience. Thanks.

    Best,
    Eli

I charge between $500 and $700 day, depending on the job and budget and what they are asking me to do. Los Angeles rate.

When is the last time you saw an editor who lived in Malibu? The Hamptons? Martha’s Vinyard? That may sound like a lot, but being freelance means paying for your own health insurance, and socking some money away for the weeks and possible MONTHS without work.
