Its at times like this i think my mac hates me. I have been using final cut for 3 years the same programme trouble free to day i was starting a new edit and at the end of the day i quit the programme as normal, my boss wanted to see something i had changed so i loaded up final cut, or rather it didnt. Everything was as normal except it does not get past the load up screen (the box in the middle of your screen upon starting the app). Ive have copyed it on to my external hard drive and replaced it on my hard drive (didnt work) restarting, logging on loggin off, reparing disk permissions. Nothing works. I made a new user and it works, although this may have you thinking thats fine i really cant keep creating new accounts and i dont want to start working on it again if this is the start of bigger problems.

Any comments, help, suggestion are so very very very welcome.

    Thank you

    Francis

Sounds like the project file has become corrupted. It’s sometimes a render file, sometimes the file itself. I’d start by dumping the recent renders. If it still doesn’t open, try finding a recent copy in the autosave vault that opens for you.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Trash your FCP prefs.

    System Drive-user-library-preferences

    trash com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist

then go to (in the same folder) Final Cut Pro user data and trash the Final Cut Pro prefs

of download FCP rescue or FCP Attic and use them (there free just google for them)

Trashing the preferences should work. That is probably why it was user specific. Its sucks that we still have to deal with his stuff, but I have to trash mine every few months.
