This is really weird, first time its happening to me… When I try to change the name of a sequence or a folder in the browser, it doesnt allow me to type in anything. I have FCP 5.1 on an iBook, hooked up to a USB Apple keyboard (the white ones), and neither the external keyboard nor the ibook’s do any good. Now, just in case, I didnt erase FCP 5.0.4, which helps me: FCP 5.0.4 works perfectly, I can type anything I want.
Now Im realizing that what happens is, even when I have the sequence selected, what it actually does, if I type H, is select the hand tool, A, the arrow tool, and so forth – and all of that WITHOUT deselecting the sequence or folder whose name Im trying to change.
Oh, btw, yes, I checked and repaired permissions, yes, I trashed preferences, and so forth.

    ANyone have an idea?

Have you accidently engaged numlock (F6) on the Ibook. That caught me once before.

Update to 5.1.1 if you haven’t and see if that fixes the problem.
