Can y’all recommend the quickest way to convert many mini DV tapes to DVD w/o any major editing and preferably with the tape code on the DVD, and a couple of chapters.

And, do you know if it is possible to use a DVD recorder to quicken the DVD burning process that normally takes close to an hour on my MAC G5 , using DVD studio Pro. I have a lot of people telling me that there must be a quicker way to do this. Any suggestions?

The easiest way to do this is to purchase a DVD recorder at a store like Wal-Mart and hook it up. What camera are you coming from? Some cameras will show the info in your viewfinder as output to video.

Do you have iLife ’06? (Look in iDVD, see if it’s version 6.)

If so, you can use your Mac as a stand-alone burner…it will take a firewire input from a video camera and capture that right to a DVD without menus or chapters.

If you want some chapters without much more work you can do something called “Magic DVD.” You would capture the video with iMovie first and then make a magic DVD in iDVD with the footage. It does some automatic chapter points and an automatic menu. Nothing fancy…more work than the one-step-DVD but a lot LESS work than making the menus yourself.

That is great help. I do have iDVD 5 and there is a OneStep DVD option. Yeah! Is there any way to get the timecode on the DVD? I also have iMovieHD with the Magic iMovie possibility.
    Any suggestions?
