Master Clip Sub Clip Confusion
Okay, so I’ve captured my footage 10 bit uncompressed, but we didn’t have a jammable slate, so I have to sync everything up in post. I thought it wouldn’t be a problem. I laid out the video and proceeded to lay the audio clips under it. As i synced up each take with the audio, I used the razor blade to cut the video to correspond with the audio (so its one big video file cut into smaller pieces with different audio files under each piece). I thought that I would’ve been able to lay markers on the timeline and then swirly arrow down next to the sequence, select all the markers, and make the clips independent. BUUUT, I guess that doesn’t work with sequences. So, how can I make those clips appear in the browser, where i can rename them with shot name and take numbers? I tried apple L linking the audio and video and dragging it into the browser, but when I bring up that clip, its still the half hour video clip with in and out points. I tried deleting the master clip, but the same thing still happened. I’ve been going over and over the subclip and mastr clip relations, but to no avail. Oh yeah, im on mac os x and FCP HD 4.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I’m not in front of my system right now to test this, but have you tried selecting your “sub-sequences” in the browser (after dragging them there first, of course!), right-click (or CTRL-click if you are of the one-button mouse persuasion), select “Make sequence clips independent”.
Then open it up in the Viewer, what happens then? Do you still get the whole original clip with your in and out points, like before, or does it do what you’re expecting, or something else?
